So after struggling with getting TwonkyMedia Server running on my SimpleShare 500GB NAS this morning, i’ve finally got it running!

up and running!

I found the right distribution, then had to modify the twonkymedia.sh and the ext-script.sh. All files are locally hosted here, so no more broken links.

Steps:

  1. Create a new share on the SimpleShare called “ShareApps”.
  2. Download the 1.09 modified firmware here (right-click and save as to download): simpleshare_1_09_opt.trx and install via the simpleshare web admin.
  3. Download the twonkymedia-complete.zip file here: local download
  4. Browse to your new share “ShareApps” in Finder, Windows Explorer, or whatever and extract all the files into the share “ShareApps”.
  5. Reboot the SimpleShare, open your browser, type in the NAS server ip followed by port 9000. ex. 192.168.1.30:9000
  6. Finished! Fire up your Xbox 360 and browse your media!
