We went up to La Junta Raceway today and got to check out a couple runs before heading back to Ocean’s house for some beef bowl’s.
There were souped-up BMW 2002’s and a LOT of Miata’s and RX-7’s. It’s free to watch and if you want to race, check out SCCA Colorado

So my right fork seal was leaking on my 2000 Kawasaki ZRX1100 and instead of paying $270 for Sun to do it, I took my chances over at Morg’s house.
After about 8 hours of creating new tools for the job, running to home depot and a lot of trial and error, we finished it! Though … I noticed a leak (very slightly) at the bottom of the fork tube.
We thought that maybe we hadn’t tightened the nut enough with our custom home depot metal rod stock, or maybe we should have added a bead of silicon or something to seal it. So we assembled it and left it in Morg’s garage for a week, I didn’t want to tackle it again to try and fix the new leak and when I came back a week later … I didn’t have to!
I’m guessing that we slightly overfilled the fork by a couple ml, there wasn’t anything scientific about it at all, we just kind of guessed anyway! So to make a long story short, Susi and I just came back from Deckers enjoying the beautiful weather today, and the bike is running great!
Moral of the story:
If you try and fix a problem yourself, either you fuck up and pay anyway or you learn a whole lot in the process.
Oh and riding motorcycles is awesome. What a rush as always!
